Font smoothing in the top pane vs. the bottom pane

I know all about the different ways Macs and PCs smooth fonts, but interestingly ... the reading pane in Entourage displays fonts like a PC, while the top pane (the list of Inbox items) displays fonts like a Mac.

I love the crispness of Arial 10 pt in my bottom reading pane. Is there a way to make my top pane (and left-bar for that matter) PC-like too? I've tried lots of different fonts/sizes in my Entourage preferences, with no luck.

And I have TinkerTools, which doesn't help. Arial 10pt still looks small and fuzzy in the top pane, even after adjusting my font smoothing choice in TinkerTools.

Thanks!

In System Preferences, select the Appearance preference and see if changing
the setting for "Turn off font smoothing" makes a difference.
