Footnotes and styles

I see no one understood me the first time, so I'm going to try to be more
clear.

When I apply one of my own styes to text in my footnote (for example style1)
afterwards if I right click on that style it says "Select All: Not Currently
Being Used".

But it is quite clear that style1 is being used, what is going on?

I'm having this problem with par. an char. styles. I really appreciate the
help.

I'm guessing that Word is not "seeing" the footnote layer.

I tried it in Print View and in Normal view with the footnotes pane open.
