Form closed shape from two or more line segments

I have a shape consisting of several line segments that I want to connect to
form a closed shape so I can fill it. How do I make all these lines into one?

Assuming all the lines actually meet at the ends. just select all of them
together, then Shape/Operations/Join

If the joined shape won't fill, it is because some ends do not coincide. To
fix this, set Snap to "Shape Handles" only. Then pick a line end and move
it to snap to a handle of another line. Repeat for the remaining line ends.
