Formatting documents to type in data or use handwriting recognitio

I have an IBM X-41 Thinkpad tablet. I've downloaded some work documents
we'll be using in the field such as work orders. What is the best way to
format them where I can type in data where the existing form lines and
characters don't move, do I use the text box funciton to set up a field for
entering data?

I tried that and then my curser won't go in the box for me to enter data???
Pls help

Also, how can I hand write in info in tablet mode, it's not working right
now?
