forms and contacts

Have designed a task page to suit my needs. I would like
to be able to add contact's details into that form so I
don't have to retype the phone numbers etc on each new
task. Have tried adding the contact field from the drop
down field chooser while designing the form but can't get
it to work.
Any ideas?
