Formula Bar

In older versions of Excel the formula bar had a "=" sign. The current
versions now have the function sign instead. Is there a way to change it
back. The "=" sign was exactly what we needed while the function sign does
not help us.

I think it is set up that way so you can enter text in the selected cell
instead of a formula. Just touch the = key

Thank you for your response. However, when you select the "=" key, it wipes
out the contents of the cell. The old formula bar would add the "=" sign at
the beginning of the cell.

Gone as of 2002. No work-arounds.

You can move the = sign to your Toolbar but it does not bring up the Function
Wizard so is useless except for not having to type the = sign. Wheeee!!

Was not a popular move on the developers' part.

Perhaps re-structured in the next version after 2003.
