Forward Pass

Terry Montgomery

Greetings,

I am studying for my PMP exam. I recently took an Estimating & Scheduling
class at a local university. In the class the formula for a Forward Pass was
stated as Early Finish = (Early Start + Task Duration) -1
All the other books and references I am finding on Forward Pass use the same
formula without the -1. The explanation I got from the instructor was that
the class example used Eartly Start = 1 on the first task to begin the
calculation. The other examples I have found set the Eartly Start = 0 on the
first task.
So what's the correct forumla for the test?

Thanks,

I guess it would depend on if the example network in the test started with
0 or 1.

Terry,
I've been teaching CPM for years. This is hard to explain in detail
here. If you'd like to contact me, I'd be happy to go over it with you.
Email me if you're interested.
