Forward to distribution list

I am trying to forward messages to a list I have created
but when I set the rule to forward to the list I get the
following message. "list"is a personal distribution
list that may not be used with this feature. Would you
like to use the individual members of 'list' instead?

I can select OK to put in the individual members but that
doesn't put anybody in either.

How do I forward to the list?
