Front Page errors on WXP, not on W2K

Folks,

I recently ported my FrontPage software and a fairly
extensive web (about 120MB, including subwebs) to Windows
XP. The identical web, running on W2K, had no problems.
On the XP side, I cannot go more than two or three clicks
before I get the automatic error reporting feature which
prompts me to upload the error to Microsoft and then
RESTARTS FrontPage! The error message at Microsoft
informs me that there is no fix; thanking me for my
support. No information at all of what the error is, how
it occured, where it occured, is provided. After all, we
are talking to a user here; wouldn't want to confuse
them.
I first tried to run the "Detect and Repair" utility. It
ran - that is, it executed, read the CD, etc. - but had
no effect on the problem.
So I went over to the Technet web site. After a couple
of shots at it in the actual website, I kept getting
blank frames with the word "Done" at the bottom. So I
went over to Google to do the searching (think about it,
guys; I get better results from searching your website
via Google than your own search engine. What's this tell
you?) and found that nothing seemed to match the problem.

FrontPage is now completely useless. In fact, worse than
that, because I have a web site that needs updating;
it's in FrontPage; FrontPage DOES NOT WORK (an error
message every 2-3 clicks and restarting the program
cannot, by any stretch of your marketing imagination, be
confused with "work") so I am now looking for a
replacement. Yes, I did a clean install from the CD
(with original product code, bought and paid for); I
used the files and settings wizard in XP to transport
files and settings.
If you want to know why people cling to older operating
systems like Windows 95, now you know. Upgrading an
operating system is like dental work using a bulldozer.
(Painful, never really complete, inadequate - and leaving
a bloody mess.)
If anyone out there has seen this problem before (and
fixed it), PLEASE let me know. I have quite literally
thousands of pages to re-do in another product. If not
that, does anyone know of a web design product that
includes a converter from FrontPage?????

How did you move the web between machines, did you publish which is the best
way or did you write to a CD, and then copy the CD to the new machine?

If you used a CD, then you need to copy the web to a folder on your HD and
remove all read-only attributes, then open that folder on HD in FP and then
publish the web to it final location on your new machine.

Now as for the FP client application, un-install it and then do a clean
install and activation (you may need to use the telephone option), do not
rely on the file and setting wizard to transfer everything.

Hi John,

Based on my understanding, this issue could be caused by some corrupt
FrontPage data in your computer, specifically some data concerning your
current user profile. You may try creating a new Windows user, add it to
your local Administrators group, and log on with it to test if the issue
occurs.

If the problem even occurs with new Windows account, it will help if you
can collect some additional information.

1. When the problem occurs, click the "click here" to open the "Details",
and provide me with the details of the error.

2. What particular operation are you doing when the problem occurs, or do
you have a certain set of steps that can be used to reproduce the problem?

3. Run FrontPage in Safe mode to see if it works. To do so, click Start ->
Run. In the Run box, type in "frontpg.exe /safe" and click OK.
