Depends upon which FP Cleaner function(s) you ran.
FrontPage creates ( not so random ) randomly named temporary files in the FrontPageTempDir
as you open and edit pages.
These files accomplish many things, but their main function is the Undo feature on the
edit menu.
It also creates "randomly" named folders when you are working with word art
When you close a page or your web, FrontPage "normally" clears this folder.
If FrontPage doesn't shut down properly, power failure / program crash etc, these files
don't get cleared.
So the next time you open FrontPage and open something to edit, if the "random" file it
tries to create already exists
FrontPage gets confused and basically says "I quit" so that it doesn't destroy your web.
( basically it detects an error and shuts down to protect your web files )
FPCleaner simply checks this directory and sends anything it contains to the recycle bin.
The Cache{.web} files are for lack of a better term, an inventory of the files in your
web, and a collection of permission settings, author name, last update time and date and
so on.
If one becomes corrupted for example, by an author doing something to the web outside of
FrontPage or by an improper shutdown, when you try to open your web or save changes
FrontPage realizes that the .web file no longer matches your web "contents" and once again
it will refuse to open, or shutdown unexpectedly in order to "protect" your work.
FPCleaner checks for existence of these .web files and sends them to the recycle bin.
FrontPage is then forced to create new ones when the web is opened.
The CmdUI.PRF file is what contains "pointers" to the toolbar settings for FrontPage.
Some settings are maintained in the registry, some in other "file" locations.
If it becomes corrupt, FrontPage won't open, or will crash if you try to use a toolbar
item that doesn't match what the .prf file thinks it should be.
Deleting this file forces FrontPage to open in a "default" state. A new .prf file is
created / stored when you shut down FrontPage.
