Gannt Chart Question

Currently I'm using a split screen to view the resource sheet and a gannt
chart. as I click on each specific resource, the gannt chart displays the
tasks the respective resource is working on. So far so good...

Now, when right clicking in the open area in the gannt chart, and then going
to bar styles > text - the field under the 'right' row is displayed as
resource names.

Is there any way to simply show the name of the resource that I'm clicking
on in the resource sheet above and his respective percentage allocation
instead of *all* resources assigned to the tasks being shown?

Well, there probably is but to do so will require the use of an advanced
feature of Project, namely VBA.

Have you looked at the Resource Usage view? It will show each resource's
assignments and can be configured to show percent allocation (i.e.
Assignment Units field).
