Gantt view

Hi,

I have edited the standard Gantt view by changing the filter from "All
tasks" to a filter which filters out all tasks which are not complete
(<100%). However every time I open the file, the default view for the Gantt
chart still has "All Tasks" showing and I have to then go to Project/Filter
and select the incomplete filter. This happens on every file I have and I
can find no other setting to change.

Any ideas please will be most welcome.

Hey David

Have you used the organizer to transfer the new view into the global. if you
have not i would suggest to do so by using tool/organizer and from there
transfer the view into the global. if you have you might need to change the
default view in the tools/options.

apart from that you might not have th right s to alter the global file if
you are in a corprate enviroment

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for your thoughts. I guess I wasn't very clear in my description.

It is not that I am looking for a new global Gantt chart view, but rather
that the Gantt chart view for the particular file/project is set to only show
incomplete tasks.

My understanding was that by setting the definition of the Ganttchart
through the View/More Views menu, would then set the way that the Gantt chart
(or any other view) would operate for that specific project.

I understand where you are coming from, that setting the view in the global
settings means that all new projects would then have that setting, but I am
looking for individualising (horrible word) the Gantt chart view for a
project.

Hi DavidC,

If you have not found it already, you can set a default filter for a view.
Go to View > More views. select the Gantt View and choose the Edit button.
In the view definition dialog box, select the filter you wish to have applied
to the view.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi JulieS,

That is the problem. I have set the filter in More views?Gantt chart, andit
certainly keeps the definition, it just does not seem to apply it when I open
project up. It is as though there is another overriding default still to be
changed.

Hi DavidC,

Okay, a couple of questions for clarification:

What I think I understands is:

You have customized the Gantt view by applying the Incomplete Task
filter in the View definition.

You note that the view "keeps the definition" - so I assume you are
saying that when you look at the View Definition the filter is still
shown.

However, when you open the project file with the Gantt chart view, the
filter is not applied?

Have you saved the file with the Gantt Chart view applied but with the
filter removed?

If you switch to another view and then return to the Gantt Chart view,
is the filter re-applied?

I can re-produce what I *think* you are seeing. I have modified the
view definition for the Gantt chart. I apply the Gantt chart view, but
then removed the filter. I save and close the file with the Gantt chart
view applied but with the filter set to All Tasks. When I re-open the
file the Gantt chart view, all tasks are shown because I saved the file
without the filter in place.

However, if I switch to another view, then return to the Gantt view, the
filter Incomplete Tasks filter is applied.
