Garfields macro advice

Hiya Garfield,

I don't know if that macro you gave me has anything to do
with it but after inserting the macro, I closed the file
and opened it to make sure it worked and my file won't
open! It brings up the enable macro box and
whether "enable" or "disable macros" is clicked, Word
returns an error and closes down. If I open word again,
it tries to retrieve my file but it's all garbled and
150pages longer than it should be.
How can I undo that macro without opening the file?

Hi Mick. Wow, the macro shouldn't produce the effect you describe. All it does is automatically check two boxes in the Tools|Options menu. I tested it in a document myself before posting it, and my test document still opens and closes okay. What you describe is symptomatic of a corrupted document. Go to http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;87856 for a list of steps to take to attempt recovery of the document.
