GeneralQueueJobFailed

Paul Goldmann

Hi,

I'm constantly getting the following error GeneralQueueJobFailed in the
queue

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?>
<errinfo>
<general>
<class name="Queue">
<error id="26000" name="GeneralQueueJobFailed"
uid="1e69e6a9-16e1-435f-9ecc-9f448bb73827" JobUID="GUID"
ComputerName="SERVER" GroupType="PublishNotifications"
MessageType="ProjectPublishSendNotificationMessage" MessageId="1" Stage=""
/>
</class>
</general>
</errinfo>

How do I troubleshoot this?

Thanks in advance
Paul

I'm not a technical specialist with Project Server 2007, but that error
message looks like a problem with the notication e-mail messages that the
system sends when you publish a project. Just a thought. Perhaps our
technical experts can expand with a few more ideas. Hope this helps.

Paul, we always try to give a more specific message wherever we can - and
'GeneralQueueJobFailed' is a catchall message. I agree that there is not
much in this error message to troubleshoot further - point taken. But as
Dale says, it does narrow down the problem - the messageType in the error
suggests that there is a problem with your notification setup. May be you
have turned on notifications, but not setup the SMTP server correctly. Or
something similar.

Do refer to the LOG FILES - they may have more details. Default location for
log files: <Drive>:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server
Extensions\12\LOGS. Hope that helps.

Hi Pradeep,

thanks for your feedback. I got/get e-mail notifications from the server.
Since the issue does not appear one day later anymore I will watch this and
check the log then.

Thanks again
Paul

Pradeep,
I am working on Project Server 2007 and getting errors from notifications.
SMTP email is working in Sharepoint and reporting services on the same
machine with the same settings.
Looking at the LOG Files you mentioned, we are getting this error, "5.7.1
Client was not authenticated".
It appears that Project server is not using NTLM authentication.
Or perhaps I don't understand what account it uses when sending email.

Is there a solution for this error?
Is there a setting to make PWA use NTLM?

Our organization have resolved it recently!The reason is simply ! Cost resource and budget resource have no email configation!we can config the "booking-type" property of those resouces from "Proposed" to "committed" !
