Getting contact info to show in the "To:" field

When I would start to type in someone's last name their contact info that
was in my address book would show up. I had to reinstall outlook 03 on my pc
and now when i type their first or last name none of the info from contacts
would appear. If I send an email to someone outlook will remember that email
address. All i have to do is type in the first couple of letters and that
address will show. I rather not have it like that and go back to typing in
the last name and have their info show.

Your post is unclear. We have no idea where you are typing.
All autocompletion data is lost when you create a new profile. It will only
be repopulated as you send messages unless you make the effort to migrate
your former autocompletion cache.

Russ,

Let me try to explain again what is going on. Prior to my reinstallation of
Outlook 2003, when I would begin to type in the last name of a person in the
"To:" the information from my address book would appear similar to
autocomplete. For example, if i typed "Valen" autocomplete would pop up and
show "Russ Valentine <[email protected]>". After reinstalling Outlook 2003
the autocomplete is empty. Let say I sent an email to
"(e-mail address removed)" and this email address is in my address book
associated with John Doe. Now when I type Doe or John nothing shows up in
autocomplete. When I type the letter "J" autocomplte does will show
"(e-mail address removed)" instead of "John Doe
<[email protected]>". Ok hope this makes sense now.

Thanks,

J

Correct, if you've created a new mail profile.

Correct. Autocompletion is not connected with your Contacts in any way
whatsoever.
When I type the letter "J" autocomplte does
will show "(e-mail address removed)" instead of "John Doe
<[email protected]>". Ok hope this makes sense now.

Most likely because you entered the address manually the first time you sent
a messge to that address after reinstalling instead of choosing it from your
Contacts folder.
