Getting .html files to come up while in FP

S

sagsam

Whether on the net or offline, I can not get .html files to come up when in
FP. The Word and jpg files come up okay. By mistake, I (a rookie) must have
hit the wrong key or setup. In the past, I have been only able to get rid
of this situation is to put FP on another computer or format the hard drive.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail. I have an earlier
post on this and was unable to explain it properly. At present, I have no
access to my website.

S

sagsam

Another important problem, I am unable to make a new website with FP. Need
help please.

Did you actually create a Web/Site? sounds like you may be working with loose pages.

What do you mean the "word" files come up ok?
HOW are you opening your local web/site?
Does the folder containg your local website have a blue Globe on it?

ps...you really should stick to your original thread

Thanks for your response, Rob. Three months ago along with my computer
instructor, we changed a Dream Weaver site to FP. It has been running
beautifully until I ran into this problem again. The Microsoft Word files
and the picture files in the folder list do come up, but, not the .htm files.
I have been opening the site with FP and doing my changes on line for the
last month. Prior to that we were making up the files on my computer and
publishing them on the website.
I am not sure on the Blue Globe. It may not have one. Will double check.
I am new about the posting. I did not think anyone would respond to my
addition to the first post.

If it's web/site it will have the blue globe, if it doesn't you're working with loose pages and may be your problem.

Check Tools Options General (Startup)
- uncheck both of the Check if ...
Then also in Tools Options Configure Editors make sure FP is set to open htm pages in Html

Thanks for your input guys. I have several questions yet and maybe I am not
doing things right. But, How do you get a globe symbol on your file? Right
now I do not have a copy of my present site. It is on the net only. I have
been working with old previously made files.
Secondly, I tried going to Tools, Options, General, and (startup). Do not
what you mean with that - (startup). Keep in mind that I am rookie. I saw
nothing about .html files.
Third, in the Tools, Options, Configure Editors sequence, I see no Configure
Editors.
Sorry.

IF your online site has FP extensions installed and they are working:

Open FP
Open Web/Site http://www.yourwebname.com
then
File | Publish Web/Site
enter WHERE you want it on your local machine...
it may be something like: C:\My Documents\My Webs\whateveryouwantcallithere (without extension) [it can be named ANYTHING on your local machine..Fred, Ethel, whatever]
then publish it...ok ok ok

This will create a local copy of your web, so you can work locally then publish back to your online server.

You may be prompted by FP to create a web at this local location..let it. This willl create the local web folder with the blue globe on it. You will ALWAY work by opening the Web/Site first.
