I maintain two simple websites -- one for our homeowner's association,
one is my family site. Neither of them has anything "fancy" -- just
text and photos.

The nature of the sites is such that I rarely make changes -- publish
a new page once or twice a month.

For the past month I have been unable to publish to either site --
both are hosted by the same host service.

When I try to publish:
-- user ID and password box pops up then disappears
-- at bottom of screen, FrontPage says "Listing pages in (my hard
drive and path to the website on my computer."
-- then, FP says "Connecting to http://XXXX.XXX
-- then, FP says "Listing pages in http://XXXX.XXX
-- then, FP says "Unable to find server on http://XXXX.XXX on port 80.
(And some other stuff about proxy, server out of service, etc.).

I have unistalled and reinstalled FP extensions until I'm tired of it.
No difference.

I turned off my firewall. No difference.

Today, the host tech support ran Server Health Check -- okay -- then
they did a complete uninstall and reinstall of FP extensions.
No difference.

When I try to publish, the remote web site pops up in FP -- that is,
when I try to publish I get two panes in my window -- local site and
remote site. I have found that I can delete pages in the remote site,
and, if I click on a file in the local site window then hit the little
blue arrow in the middle of the screen, the file will be copied from
local to remote. But -- cannot PUBLISH.

Looks now as though the only option is to delete the entire site from
the remote server and publish from scratch. And if that doesn't work,
we are sitting at the table and out of aces.

Any suggestions?

I solved the problem.

Moved the hosting account to a new hosting provider, changed the DNS,
published without a problem.
