Getting Project to recognize a calendar for a resource

HELP! I'm using Microsoft Project 98. I'm trying to get project to
recognize a calendar for a resource. I have created calendars for each of
the resources, but it is still scheduling the resource where I have defined
non-working days for the resource. I have been working on this for days and
I just can't get it to use the calendar for that resource. I have don't
everything that Help has defined to do.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

This is a problem I never ever encountered.
Are you sure this is the calendar assigned to the resource? Is calculation
set to automatic?
Note that when there are several resources each one works according to
his/her own calendar so there may be work on a task (by Resource A) when
Resource B is on holiday...

I have tried, I think, ever combination to get this to work, but not the
right combo. I have followed the instructions in the Help. I have had
automatic calc on and off. I only have 1 resource per task, nothing
complicated there. I have a duration that the task should take, a project
start date and I have predecessors set up. When I look at the resource, it
shows, in the base calendar column, the one that has been assigned for that
resource. Thanks

Hi Karen,

Do send me the file, I shall have a look.

Are you sure its not just an illusion? If I have Sat and Sun off and am
scheduled for a task starting Wed and going for 5 days, the Gantt chart bar
will extend over the weekend even though I'm not actually scheduled to work
those days. Elapsed time 7 days, duration 5 days, resource is scheduled for
8 hours a day on Wed, Thur, Fri, Mon, & Tue but not on Sat and Sun even
though the blue bars in the chart make it appear he is working the weekend
as well. Take a look at either of the Usage views, I'll bet you see blanks
in the hours for the weekends.

The only other thing I can think of that would cause this behavior, if they
are actually getting assigned hours on their non-working days, is if you
have assigned a task calendar to the task in question that includes the
weekend as working time and turned on the option "Scheduling ignores
resource calendars" on the Task Information dialog Advanced page.

Sorry for the loss of time boys, I could solve it looking at the file and
should have published that here.
The holidays were introduced in a base calendar that had the same name as
the resource but not in the resource calendar.

Greetings,
