Golbal Milestones available in all projects MSPS 2007

Hi there,

for our program we have a global milestone list. These milestones are - so
far - available in a dedicated project plan. I would like to make these
milestones to be available in all project plans. The milestones shall also be
updated with changes as the name, finish date and % complete.

My idea was to insert the global milestone plan in each project - linked and
read only. This is OK for one plan. If I do it for a second plan, I get a
message that there might be errors publishing the plan (because it is already
inserted into another plan).

So my solution won't work. Has anyone an idea for another solution? We use
Project Server 2007.

Best regards
Michael

Hi Ray,

tanks a lot - as far as I know, deliverables are not updated automatically
(you have to accept the changes from the server) and only 1:1 relationships
can be implemented. My idea is to distribute the milestones over all projects
- how do you think to do that?

Best regards
Michael

why not just make those milestone part of an enterprise template?

BTW- we get the error may times due to the level of insertions that we have
(3 levels) -- so far -- we've not had anything major happen.....

Michael,
<<The milestones shall also be updated with changes as the name, finish date
and % complete>>
So you want dynamic links for three data on each milestone...
You could use the Edit / Copy then Edit / Paste Special / Paste Link feature
which works if the number of such links is less than 10...
The stability is not guaranteed with a larger number of links.
The company Campana & Schott developed an application which does that kind
of links, directly on the Project Server database, but that is not a small
investment.

OK, thanks a lot to all of you.
As there is no easy solution, I'll tell the project managers to open a
dedicated project plan..

THANKS!
Michael
