Granting User Access to Project Workspaces

G

Greg

We are using Project Server 2007.

I have a core project team who all have access to the project workspace.
But I need to add a few users who are not directly assigned tasks on the
project. I need to grant these user access to only this project.

At the core of the question is the difference between SharePoint and Project
Server security. It seems that I need to grant them access to the site (via
SharePoint) and access to the project information (through Project Server).
How do I do this?

I have the users set up in AD, but I don't want to do an AD sync for this
subset of users.

Hi Greg, perhaps the easiest way to grant them access is to add them to the
team via Build team from enterprise - they no longer have to have assignments
as per PS2003. So, they'll have to be members of the team members group.

An alternative, but more drastic, solution would be to grant everyone
anonymous access to WSS.

Hi Greg,

Adding to Ben's post, if you choose a user to become part of your team,
using the build team from enterprise feature, all users that are part of this
team have read access to the workspace only.

If you want to grant them edit/condribution access ( e.g. amend or create
risks, issues etc) you will need to assing the resources to a task. Only by
assigning them to a task will ensure that they have edit access.

Hope this will help
