Graphics files

I recently installed O2003 on XP SP2. It changed the default handling of
TIFF files to something called MSPaper.Document. I had previously added an
Edit property to the TIFF handler. When I tried to make that same change to
the new handler, I get a message that says I don't have access to it. The
same or equivalent thing happens if I try to import the hack or if I try to
make the change the Explorer. The same problem exists with JPEGs.

Can anyone tell me what's going on and more importantly how I can make the
changes I want to?

Thanks.

Hi Ken,

MS Paper is the internal app name for MS Office Document Imaging (MODI)(which supports only TIFF and .MDI (a MS TIFF variant).

If you have installed that application and bring up in Windows Explorer Tools=>Folder Options=>File types, that shoul see the
association to MSPView.exe (MODI's MS Paper view app) <g>. If you prefer a different program to handle the TIFF files you could
delete the entry there or have a different program take over the file association.

If you're looking to do something programmtically then you may want to use the link below to post in the Office Developer newsgroup
and include the version of Word and Windows you're targeting and some information on language you're using, etc.
