Graphics in e-mail

Ed Wood

I subscribe to a safe mailing program that sends opt-in email only to a list
of it's members.

I am trying to send a copy of my logo .gif file along with text about my web
site. The mailer will use html language. I create the document I want to send
in FP 2003, then copy the html and paste it into the mailer program.

When the email is sent out, the graphics on the page are omitted, and only
the place holder for the graphic is on the page.

How can I include the graphic on the email? Can I program the html code to
point to my web site images directory for the graphic? If so, how to I do
that?

Thanks in advance for your help.

All of the forum readers have been very helpful to me in the past when I was
trying to set up my web pages. If you are interested in seeing the finished

Murray,

I made the correction that you suggested and that fixed the problem with the
graphic. However, another problem surfaced on that same page. The click
through links at the bottom of the page no longer have the graphics. The
funny thing is, it is only a problem on this particular page, all of the rest
of the pages display correctly. The link page is a separate page titled
"bottom.htm" so that it is available to every page.

I went to the index page (and other pages too) and right clicked on the link
button, then clicked properties to see the url. Here is what it reported.

http://lowpricecalling.com/derived/(page name of the particular
button).htm_comp_ice000_hbtn.gif.

On the problem page (Opex) I again right clicked on the link button, then
clicked on the properties tab to see the url. Here is the message on that
page.

http://cognigen.net/derived/(page name of the particular
button).htm_comp_ice000_hbtn.gif.

My question is: Why is this different than the url on other pages, and how
can I change it to match the index (and other) page(s)?

Ed

Murray,

Ignore th last post. It was not meant for you, but for a web site problem
that I have.

Here is what I placed in the html coding for my e-mail program.

<a href="http://www.lowpricecalling.com">
<img src=''http://www.lowpricecalling.com/images/lpc logo (thumbnail).gif>''
<img border="0" src="LPC.GIF" width="204" height="140" align="right"></a>

I must have done something wrong in the coding, because when the email was
sent today, I still had only the image outline (that was clickable) but no
graphic.

Any suggestions?

Ed

....lowpricecalling.com/images/lpc logo (thumbnail).gif>''
------------------------------------------^^^^^^^^^

Is it possible that these are spaces?

E

Ed Wood

Yes, these are spaces in the filename "lpc logo (thumbnail).gif"

Does this cause a problem? If so, I can create one without the spaces (i.e.
lpclogo.gif).

Ed

Spaces may cause problems with some servers and some browsers. Brackets
*will* cause problems. File and folder names in a website should consist of
alphanumeric characters a-zA-Z0-9, plus the underline _ and hyphen - , and
nothing else.
