greyed out toolbars

Tracy

In every Microsoft Office 2003 software that I try to run (Excel, Word, etc.)
all of my toolbars are greyed out, I can't type anything in the
fields...Office is only giving me a read-only file. (And I checked the
properties and the "read-only" button is unchecked).

Sounds like "reduced functionality mode" either because you have not
activated your Office software, or because you have an expired trial version
of Office 2003. What happens if you start Word or Excel, and then click on

I purchased a Toshiba Laptop which has Windows XP Operating System. I
downloaded a new Office Prof program I purchased from someone who works at
Microsoft onto this and have had problems with greyed out areas. In Outlook
along with other programs, File,View Edit, etc... only some of the things are
greyed out.
