Groove data transfer hung

I am using Groove to sync a bif folder.

One computer says Uploading 42.9 GB and the other says downloading 1.8 GB.

It kept running out of disk space so I just took 25 GB out of the folder and copied them over to another folder manually.

There should really only be about 1 or 2 GB to sync up right now but it is still trying to sync the 25 GB because it is cached or
something.

However, the numbers about 42.9 and 1.8 GB never move anymore.

Is there some way to clear the cache and "reset" the folder synchronization? I haven't attemped to uninstall / reinstall and would
rather not if I don't have to.

(Bandwidth is NOT a problem, the two computers are next to each other and in the past they seemed to sync a GB in just a minute or
two.)

Any advice appreciated!

Thanks,
Eric

Hi Eric -

You could try shutting Grove down and running grooveclean.exe in the
main Office 12 folder to see if that shifts it. I've not had much
success restarting Groove Folder Share (GFS) like that but the latest
Groove might be a bit better.

If that doesn't work, my advice is to remove the Groove Folder Share
completely and start again, adding your files in small numbers into the
shared folder. If you drop 100 gig of maps into a folder, Groove will
(used to - don't know if the latest beta changes it) process that as a
single 100 gig transaction.

Note: Groove does not remove the items queued up for transfer just
because you've deleted them from the folder.

Look out from my email to you, BTW :)

I gave up on this and uninstalled Groove on both computers.

On one of them it still has 25 GB in Application Data, I think because I told it to keep user and system data when I uninstalled :-(

What do you recommend is the next step?

I'd like to try Groove 2007 if you would recommend it.. is that very difficult to obtain and install?

The folder I have on the two computers is presently slightly out of sync, will I have to manually sync them and then delete the
folder completely off one of the computers? Or will the new install of Groove manage to merge them by looking at the dates?

Also, how should I go about clearing the 25 GB in Groove's cache from Application Data?

Thanks in advance!
