Header and Footer

Eric

Hello,

I am using Word 2003.
When I click on the "Insert AutoText" from the Header and Footer toolbar,
every option is duplicated.
I have "-PAGE-" twice, "Author, Page #, Date" twice, ....

Any idea why this is happening?

Thank you.

Eric.

Can't be sure why it is happening, but the first thing to try is:

Go into the H/F, rt-click the toolbar & select Customize. On the Toolbars
page click on the *name* of the H/F Toolbar, then click the Reset button.
When you Close out of the dialog it will hopefully behave, but you may need
to exit & restart Word (shouldn't be necessary but I've seen occasions where
it did make a difference -coincidence? - don't know).

Any chance you have put normal.dot in your Word startup folder?

Charles,

Exactly. That's what I realised on Friday after creating the thread.
I removed the startup setting and then everything appeared only once.

Is there a workaround to keep the normal.dot as the startup template and
also not have the duplicates.

Thank you.

Eric.

Normal.dot is the startup template. Templates in the Startup folder are
loaded after normal.dot and are used for changing / supplementing the user
interface. For more on the different kinds of templates, tabs on the file
new dialog, and locations of templates folders see
