When I embed or link an excell object into Word, the
object wants to attach ifself into a Header or Footer when
I try moving it around. Any remedy for this?

That can happen only if you have the header or footer open and selected at
the time. Embedded and linked objects are attached to the first paragraph of
whatever is selected when you do the embedding or linking.

Perhaps what you are seeing is not the object attached to the header, but
positioned at the top left of the page? Word does do that sometimes, for
reasons of its own. To fix, either drag the object to where you want it, or
right click, select format, go to the layout > advanced tab and set the
position explicitly.
