Heavy black cursor

Windows Word 2007 on Vista

Can I adjust the cursor thickness? The cursor that blinks when typing is now
a thick black line, not slender as it used to be. How can I change it back?
It appears thick when I make an insertion in the address line. It's a solid
black square and it appears in all of my other applications, with the
exception of Excel.

You could try going to Start | Control Panel | Mouse and changing the
pointer options / system scheme to something like Windows Black. Your other
cursors (the arrow, the hourglass, etc.) will change, too, though.
