Help for a beginner

I'm very new at using powerpoint and need to ask a question, probably
lots of questions.
Question #1:
Is there a way to insert a different "design template"?
I'm also probably not very good at understanding terms in Powerpoint so
maybe I'm not making any sense. Here's what I"m trying to do.
I've started a presentation with a template but further into the
presentation I'd like to add a different template or a different looking
slide. I'd like to use several different templates in one presentation.
Is that possible?

It is always best to mention what version of PowerPoint you are using because,
particularly in your case, the answer often depends on the version.
