Help Formatting

Steve

Hi, I have a spreadsheet that is mesbehaving badly.

For some strange reason all of my columns that are formatted as
'General' have reformatted themselves as 07/01/1900 00:00:00 for no
reason at all..

Can anyone advise how I can get the format to stay as originally
intended, or why my spreadsheet is behaving this way?

Thanks

Steve

if your format is "General" you let Excel decide what format the cells
may have. And if in adjacent cells is a date Excel "thinks" that all
other cells should be dates. Format your cells as "Number".

Thanks Claus, they were originally formatted as number when they
suddently changed to the format below for no apparent reason.

It was then that I changed it to general having researched it on the
net.

However, it has not resolved the problem so I wil go back and
re-format as number as adviced.

Cheers

Hi Claus, I have changed all the formats back to number with no
decimals yet excel keeps changing them randomly to the time format -
it is very frustrating !!!!

Is there any way to lock the format so that it cannot be changed.

Thanks in advance

some of your values seems to be incorrect.
Click in the column header => format the column with your numberformat
=>with selected column Choose Data => TextToColumns => Fixed Width =>
Finish.
Repeat it for all your columns with numbers.
If it doesn't work please send me the file.
