Help!! Ignored -- new Outlook problem

I have posted this and have seen others post it several
times but only one has been answered. I did a search on
Google and find that many others have had this -- but
there is no one answer --- and NOTHING that I can find
that Microsoft has even addressed this.

Problem: Double, triple and even four duplicate emails
being received.

My user has Yahoo mail and it does not affect that.
Only the Outlook mail Her antivirus is McAfee. One
suggestion is turn off the antirus for scanning email !!
How dangerous is that !!

Please, please help. I have always had good responses
to my questions -- and this is becoming an epidemic in my
offices.

Are all the duplicates delivered at once, or spread out
over minutes, hours or even days?

As long as you know enough to recognize virus infected messages as virus
infected and can curb the desire to open them, you don't need an AV scanning
your email. If you are not infected, you don't need an AV scanning outgoing
mail...

Which version of outlook and do you have the latest patches and service
packs?

Turning off the virus scanning is not dangerous at all. The email scanning
is just one more scare tactic to sell AV products.

Your mail is scanned when opened by your AV anyway. The incoming/outgoing
scanning is needless overhead, causes no end of problems for Outlook
send/receive, and is a sales tactic.

If you keep your AV up to date, your hard drive is continuously protected,
viruses caught and either deleted or quarantined. Any new virus or worm
will not be caught any faster by scanning incoming or outgoing mail as the
..dat files need to be updated before that particular nastie is identified as
malware. When the .dat file is updated, ALL of your AV is updated, not just
the incoming and outgoing mail scanner.

So, tell me again, why this additional overhead is thought of as such a
great panacea?

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

One email is received and then the rest appear
immediately (now we are up to 4 at one time).

I have Outlook 2000 -- Yahoo paid account -- McAfee
antivirus. I did a Windows and Office update.

I did shut the virus protection off and it didnt' make a
difference.

Hi. I answered the last question but have not received a
reply yet. My user is now getting SEVEN of each
emails !! We use Outlook 2000, Yahoo Mail is our paid ISP
and we use McAfee virus protection.

I turned off the AV email scanning feature -- and it did
not change the duplicates. Pls help. I have been
researching and researching and can't find anything !!!

Where is the 'outlook' mail coming from? The yahoo account or some other
mail server?
