Help: importing ASCII tables

It is easy to import ascii files into EXCEL (e.g. comma separated value
files). Is there a similarly simple way to import ascii formatted table
directly into word? I have ascii data that can be formatted any way that
WORD would like it, I need to import this data into a WORD table.

If not, is there a way to import EXCEL tables into WORD tables and not
have the import show up as an EXCEL file in WORD?

-Thanks in advance

Hi Chuck,

Paste the comma separated data into Word, then select it and from the Tables
menu, select Convert Text to Table.

Please post any further questions or followup to the newsgroups for the

Hope this helps

Hi, Chuck,

Word doesn't have the fancy import filters that Excel has, so there
isn't a simple way to import something like a CSV file. But once it's
in Excel, just copy it to the clipboard, go to Word, select Edit >
Paste Special, and tell it to insert as RTF.
