Help in resource pool and formula's

B

I am having trouble with my IMS resource sheet. What is happening is that
when I roll several projects up into one IMS I get compunded resources. For
instance I have four seperate schedules that I would like to roll up into one
IMS. When I insert the four schedules and go and check the resource sheet it
has the same resource four or five times. Once for each of the four schedules
and then sometimes one more for the IMS schedule. This happens whether I
copy and paste a common resource pool into each schedule or whether I link
the schedules to the common resource pool. Any ideas on how to correct this?
My thoughts are to show the resource once and it would show me the total
hours of all four schedules for this resource. I think this should be an
easy fix. The only way around this I can think is to create an if then
statement saying if John Doe is found in the resource column, then add work
for all the times John Doe shows up. I am not sure on how do this either, I
have never done a formula in Project. Is this possible?

Hi Barry,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

The trick here is to share resources with the pool: in each project
Tools/Resource Sharing/Share resources... and in the dialog, select to share
with the pool.

You might like to have a look at my series on Microsoft Project in the

Thanks.)
