Help me fix my conversion problems.

I am having the same problem with 2 97 multi-user
databases I converted to XP. They work fine at first but
then the database becomes corrupt. The same table always
has a record that is pound signs. I can compact and
repair the database, delete that record, compact again
and it will work for a while. I even created a new
database and imported each object with hopes of fixing
the problem. I have read somewhere that I might need to
change my memo fields to text fields. I would rather not
do that if at all possible. I suspect oplocks but am not
sure. Has anyone else had this problem?

Hello Marion,

The OpLocks setting has proved to be a cause of corruption in Access
databases, as has sharing a one-file "monolithic" database in which forms,
reports, queries, etc., are in the same database as the tables - not split
into a BackEnd (containing shared tables) and a FrontEnd (containing all
other objects). There is also more information at the following link:

Thanks for the information. I did break the database
into two parts and that didn't help either. I am meeting
with our network people today to look at oplocks. I will
let you know the results
