HELP - NEW INSTALL OF OFFICE vX WONT UPDATE - CANT REGISTER IT?

Hi all,

Ive recently purchased a new ibook and installed a full copy of
Office v.X
I have attempted to complete an online registation of my product but
the microsoft website tells me the site is no longer available. I have
tried to patch my copy of office but the update package just hangs
and wont complete. Is this because I have not registered my product
or something else?

Im trying to firstly update my copy of office with Office X 10.1.2
Update - any help or ideas?

It's not registration. All registration does is allow you to sign up for
a monthly e-newsletter. And give MS marketing whatever data you choose
to share.

What error do you get when you try to update?

Couple of things to check:

You should *always* reset your disk permissions before (and often after)
installing an application:

You should also check to see that update 1.2 is needed. More recent
versions of Office X already have that update applied, so it isn't
necessary. See

for assistance in determining which version of v.X you have installed.
