Help: "Restore Web Site" grey out

Y

Yee CN

Hi,

I am trying to install the HR template downloaded from Microsoft. The
instructions asked to make use of the the "Restore Web Site" command to
import the .fwp file.

The problem is the tools>Server>Restore Web Site command is always grey out
no matter what I try.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Yee

I'm having the identical issue... I just sent a help message to vividoffice
(the company that wrote the HR template you are referring to), hopefully
someone can answer our issues. If you notice, the import a web package is
also grayed out.

Thanks in advance for any help folks can give.

A .fwp file is a web package or module that others can use on their sites.
In order to use it your site must be hosted on a server based on Windows
SharePoint Services. If the server doesn't have WSS installed the option is
grayed out.

I did have SharePoint Portal Server 2003 installed in my server. It is
working OK as far as I can tell. I was able to open Sharepoint Central
Administration page, and was able to creeate a Sharepoint portal.

But somehow FP is not registering that WSS is running. The wizard will not
allow me to create a subsite using the "Sharepoint Team Services" template.

Any further suggestions?

Best regards,
Yee

You say you have SharePoint Portal Server 2003, but do you also have WSS?

WSS was installed with SharePoint Portal Server. I can see it listed in
"Add/Remove Programs". The SharePoint portal that I created seems to be
working fine so WSS must be running somewhere. I am not about to see any
services specific to WSS though - there are only 3 services for SharePoint
Portal.

How do I find out that WSS is running OK?

It was the 120MB evaluation copy downloaded from Microsoft 4 days ago.

I think there are two issues here:
- Frontpage not recognizing the existance WSS
- 'Restore Web Site' got grey out. This on should be independent on the
first.

Regards,
Yee
