Help w/sending '07 Publisher email

Mr. JLW

I have Publisher 2007 and have created an email pub that I want to send as a
message in the body of an email. I'm using Windows Mail and have configured
it to the right pop email server, but when I try to send myself a test email
to check how it looks, I get nothing. Can you help?

You can send but not receive?

Or...do you mean you receive the message
but without the attachment?

Do you receive mail from other sources?

Have you determined that all of your recipients can receive HTML email? Many
people have disabled this option to avoid the viruses that can be embedded.
The general wisdom here seems to indicate that sending a PDF attachment is a
better way to go.

I can''t send the message. When I attempt to from the Publisher, all appears
to be OK, no errors etc., but I never receive anything. I can send and
receive everything else from anyone. I'm not trying to send as an attachment,
but as a message (as in the body of the email).

I haven't even got that far! I'm just trying to send myself a test email of
the publication to see if it works.

I just checked both of the refrences you provided... I did everything
according to the first ref. already; the troubleshooter said to try sending
the entire page as a .jpg image. I tried that just now and still received no
email back.

Have you looked at the Security settings for your email? Have you checked the

In Publisher...go to...Tools / Options / Web...
check the box..."Send entire publication as
single JPEG image....etc..." / OK

I use XP and Outlook Express 6 so this possible solution may vary with
Windows Mail, but try this:

In OE/Windows Mail go to Tools > Accounts > Mail Tab > select your ISP
account > properties > Servers tab > and make sure the "my server requires
authentication" is checked. Try sending your email publication again - File
Send email > send as a message.

Note if you send the entire page as an image, the size of the message can be
quite large and those with a dial-up internet connection will not be happy
with you. Better to send as html formatted or as an attached PDF which will
be smaller that as an image. If you have formatting issues with html
formatted, then messages are best sent as an attached PDF.

I assume that you also tried unchecking it then?

When you try to send, does it show up in the sent folder in Windows Mail? If
so that implies it might have something to do with your ISP. Have you
checked your spam folder? Have you tried sending it to a friend?

If you noticed from the references I posted, Publisher is a little finicky
with what email client will work with Publisher. It is possible that it
simply will not play well with Windows Mail. I would probably take it as a
sign that you should just send it as a PDF attachment which is less likely
to have formatting issues for your recipients anyway.

I've tried un-checking, re-checking and sending to various people... no
record of it sent to or from anywhere. Not in the junk mail either. I'lljust
have to take another route, I guess. Thanks!

Hmmm, the steps I posted for you worked for me.

Here it is again in case you missed the message.
