Help when i open word

Hello, I am new to all this and have a small problem.
When I open up word (office xp) it opens showing 2 pages
on the screen side by side. It did not used to do this,
it used to open showing only one sheet, I have found how
to change it once it is open but i assume that there is a
way to set it befoe you open it to display a certain way.
this is really anoying me and I would love any help you
have to offer.
