Help with searching text in printouts

I am having issues with the accuracy of the search feature of OneNote. I have
printed several PDF journal articles to OneNote from IE. Unfortunately, my
success in searching the text in these printouts has been somewhat poor. I
have run several tests searching for known key words present in an article
and OneNote rarely finds a given word successfully.
My settings are correct to allow for text searching of the image. I can even
use the “copy text from this page of the printout†feature and paste the text
into Word. If I do this the words I am searching appear correctly in Word and
can be found using Word’s find feature. Hence, OneNote should be recognizing
the text in the images properly since OneNote can successfully copy it.
Do you have any suggestions for improving the success of OneNotes search
feature? This could be a very powerful tool in research if it works properly.

Actually, this just happened to me the other day: I was trying to figure out
what the lowest resolution I could use was (just to keep file sizes down
when scanning to PDF)... I found that with certain resolutions the document
was searchable once in OneNote, and with others it wasn't.

So try looking at the resolution of the original document, and try scanning
one resolution setting higher and see if that works. In my case, the
smallest resolution that works is 200 dpi.

Make sure you give OneNote enough time to index the files. The search index
isn't updated instantaenously at the time you import or "print to" OneNote.

The indexing tries to do its work when the computer is otherwise idle, so
give it over lunch and try again.
