Hello Michelle,
You believe you scanned a document into Word, when
in actuality you have scanned an image of a document into Word :-(
It's better to use WordPad for the text document scanning which will allow
the OCR software which came with your scanner to recognize the text, each
letter individually.
Then save that document and closing WordPad when completed,
Then Open Word and edit the doc as you desire.
