Hide formulas in Cell

S

Steve

I am trying to create a spreadsheet that does not reveal
the formulas used to drive the result within the cell.
Ideas?

Select the formula cells. Menu Format > Cells > Protection. Check Locked and
Hidden.

Then select the cells where input IS allowed, same menu, uncheck Locked and
Hidden.

Finally protect the worksheet, menu Tools > Protection > Protect Worksheet.

Select the cells where you want to hide the formulas.

Format|Cells|Protection Tab|
Check Locked
and
check hidden

(half way done.)

Now protect the worksheet
tools|protection|Protect sheet.

Protecting the worksheet may stop more than you want. So test it to see if it's
ok.

And be aware that there is code/links that provide a way to unprotect a
worksheet in just a few minutes posted in here every week.

So it'll stop the honest and irritate the dishonest (who are proficient in
excel).

Maybe you could convert a copy of the worksheet to values and share that copy???

Good point Dave, second that. Formulas are hidden as requested, but bottom line is "never
ever put any confidential information in an Excel file that you're distributing".
Everything can be found. Which may or may not be a concern in this case.

Best wishes Harald
