Highlight colors customize?

How do I add more colors or custom colors to the highlight list? You can
choose any variety of colors for fonts but highlights are limited. I used to
be able to change this in a previous version of word but I have forgotten how.

There is not nor has there ever been a way to change or increase the number
of highlight colors. But you can apply shading (Format | Borders and
Shading) to selected text.
