home page problem

Suddenly, when I am typing a document, the home page goes awayand all that I
can see is the ruler. Everytime I need to change fonts, italicize, or bold, I
have to shift back to the home pag.

It will not let me type in the home page.

I wonder if by "home page" you mean the ribbon?

If you double-click any tab on the ribbon, it shows only the tabs. If
you double-click on any of those tabs, the ribbon comes back.

Restore the Home tab (Ribbon) by double-clicking any tab on the Ribbon.
