hourly activities

I'm using MS project 2000 to control a series of short activities that are
supposed to be executed on an hour-based timeline rather than days-based. Now
I could change the top timeline to display "hours and halves" and when I
insert a new activity, I can set the lenght to, let's say, 2hours but I'm
unable to change the start and end date beyond the full day (or calendar).
Can project accomplish this ?
