how can I change the color of the constraint lines between tasks?

I want the constraint line to display on the gantt chart, but I don't want
them to "dominate" the presentation. I would like to recolor them to "grey"
or "silver" so they're present, but not overpowering.

I assume you're referring to the precedent link arrows between tasks. The
arrow inherits the colour of the predecessor task so AFAIK there's no way to
have a different colour for it. You can turn them off using the Gannt chart
layout command but that's about all you can do. On the bright side they do
represent pretty important information about the nature of the work the
tasks represent.

Hi Don,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup

The link line colour is not individually selectable. It gets its colour
from the task from which it emenates. You could change the colour of all
the bars in Format/Bar Styles... but that will affect the bar as well. If
you can live with grey tasks bars, you could change the start and end shapes
back to the conventional colours.

It is pretty easy once you know the secret.
The bars take the color from the first barstyle in the format/barstyles
dialog box.

To make them grey:

1) Go to format menu
2) Select Barstyles
3) Insert a new style at the top of the list
4) Copy the criteria and show for from the second line into the new style
you created
5) Prefix the style name with an asterisk * so that it won't show in the
menu
6) In the bottom of the dialog box select the color you want it to be.

This should do it. The barstyles are drawn in the same order as the list, so
your typical barstyle will completely hide the grey style you have just made
except for the links.

Hey, Jack, that's cool! I can't get it to work with the milestones,
however, Don if you can accept that they're coloured the same grey, you've
