how can I get the send button to work, It worked once on a test.

I have a new lap top and Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 trail was on it, trail
ran out and I purchased Microsoft Office Outlook 2003. I am able to recieve
e-mail, but when I try to send a new message or reply, the send button does
not work. What setting is wrong and how do I fix it. Should I uninstall what
was on and reinstall the new version?
