How can I import contacts from an e-mail attachment ?

I am working from due to having a broken leg and my boss sent me my contacts
from outlook as an attachment in an e-mail. I just need to know how to import
the contacts into my contacts on my home pc.

In what format were these Contacts sent?
In what format is the message to which they are attached?
