how can I locate my document when word won't let me

when I try to open it says the document or path name is not valid check file permissions for the document or drive or use the file dialog box

Try going to: START, FIND or if you are using XP SEARCH,
Click to expand...
type in name of document, and see if you get any response.
If if shows up, write down location, such as: c: and try
to find it that way! Good luck!
