How can I make templates open from File, New in Word 2002?

I don't use the Task Pane often, and I do use templates a lot. I also move
back and forth between Word 2002 at home and Word 2000 at work. I like the
Task Pane for the clipboard because it adds some functions, but the template
folder is hard to locate and takes several extra clicks if the Task Pane
isn't already open. Please, is there a way to reset Word 2002 so the
templates I've created will open from File, New, as they do in older versions
of Word?
