You will have to explain a little more using the message area as to what you
want to accomplish. don't forget to tell us which version of PowerPoint your
using.

I am using Powerpoint 2000.... I have created a presentation but was trying
to remove the template design from just one slide so I can incorporate a
diagram. Is this possible. (to remove the template from one slide?)

Soulone,
You could apply the blank template to that particular slide. Select the
slide, in the design template taskpane click on the arrow next to the blank
template and choose apply to selected slides.
Another way would be to rightclick on your slide, select Background, then
click on the arrow and select the white color box or another color if you
like, then check the "Omit graphics from background" checkbox in case you
have graphics on your master. Finally click "Apply" and not "Apply to all"
of course.

Soulone,
See part two of my answer of a few minutes ago, it's always better to
mention the version you use. The first solution won't work because there are
no multiple design templates allowed in PPT 2000.

Because 2000 doesn't allow multiple masters, you'll have to cover the
template's background with a big rectangle. Then, you'll have a blank
canvas to put anything you want.
