How can you remove the DEFAULT templates in Word XP?

Hope someone can help.

We use a large number of custom templates, stored in
multiple sub-folders under a Template folder on our main
server. In all previous version of Word it was a simple
task of telling the Setup that templates were to be read
from the Template folder and then "New from Template..."
gave me all of our sub-folders as tabs.

Upgrade to XP and it all changes. :-(

I now change Setup as normal, but still get all the
(useless to me) Default templates... so many of them that
my Custom tabs don't open straight away, and can only be
accessed through the More... tab. NOT friendly.

So I go looking, and find that the Default Templates are
stored within the C:\Program Files area. So, I thought,
simply delete these and when I run "New from template..."
it will not see them so not include them.

WRONG.

It now takes longer to give me the Template selections up,
and STILL shows all of the Default templates... but of
ZERO KB SIZE! In other words, it knows they are gone, but
still shows them and prompts me to reload the damn things
should I click on one!

Oh, and I STILL have to use the More... tab to get to MY
templates.

Could somebody PLEASE let me know how I can convince my
installation of Microsoft Word that - grateful as I am - I
have NO USE for its defaul templates so do NOT want to see
them!

Grrrr.

And thanks in advance for anyone who can get my blood
pressure down!

Well, couldn't figure out how to find threads in this
newsgroup (very useless), but HAVE found out how to get
rid of templates.

So for others who have this problem (and can thread this
conversation!) go looky here

And look for "Point #6 - How do I prevent a default tab
from appearing"
